Papyrus scrolls and cravings dating back to the ancient Egyptian civilization have shown that the people of those times knew about contraception.
They used pastes made from honey and extracts of the acacia tree and contraceptive pessaries. The ancient Greeks also used herb and plant extracts to prevent pregnancies. In fact, each large civilization had their methods of contraception and is known because of the writings that they left behind.
